George Washington—before he led a revolution, he survived one. From Wonder Project and Angel Studios Young Washington tells the origin story of America’s first leader. From Jon Erwin (director of Jesus Revolution, I Can Only Imagine, and House of David) comes a powerful new historical epic based on the true events that shaped a nation.

Introducing William Franklyn-Miller and also starring Golden Globe® winner Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds, Fried Green Tomatoes), Golden Globe® winner Kelsey Grammer (Frasier, Jesus Revolution), Golden Globe® nominee Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings, The Batman), and Academy Award® winner Ben Kingsley (Gandhi, Schindler’s List), this film explores the courage, sacrifice, and destiny that forged a legendary leader. With breathtaking cinematography, gripping drama, and historical intensity, YOUNG WASHINGTON reveals the untold struggle that would change the fate of the world forever.

About YOUNG WASHINGTON
Before he was the Father of a Nation, he was a soldier fighting to survive. A single misstep thrusts young George Washington into the center of a global conflict, testing his honor, loyalty, and courage. As alliances crumble and the frontier erupts into war, he must confront not only his enemies but the man he’s becoming. This is the untold story of Young Washington.

The production values of YOUNG WASHINGTON are exceptional.

The script takes Washington out of the iconic paintings—crossing the Delaware or confessing about a cherry tree—and introduces him as a real young man shaped by loss and determination. After his father’s death and his mother’s inability to send him to school, George begins educating himself through reading. The film follows his journey as he grows up, searching for purpose and a place in the world.

Visually, the film feels authentic. From the houses and costumes to the weapons and battle scenes, every detail is well-researched and immersive.

The acting is stellar. William Franklyn-Miller portrays Washington as a young, ambitious man driven by service rather than status. Mary-Louise Parker brings depth to Mary Washington, a widowed mother focused on the survival of her family. Kelsey Grammer shines as Lord Fairfax, a generous landowner whose daughter captures George’s attention and heart. Andy Serkis and Ben Kingsley add gravitas to the ensemble, rounding out a powerful cast.

YOUNG WASHINGTON releases in theaters July 3, 2026. With a run time of 2 hours, 5 minutes, it is rated PG-13 for sequences of strong war violence and some bloody images.
