Co-Authors Kira Marie McCullough and Keb Burns Release The Gift of Peace

Co-authors Kira Marie McCullough and Keb Burns and WordCrafts Press are thrilled to announce the September 18, 2025, release of The Gift of Peace, the first volume in their devotional series, Treasures of Grace. The new title is available in hardback, trade paperback, audiobook, and all major ebook formats.

“Being afraid all the time, being angry all the time, being upset all the time—that’s a miserable way to live. And we make the people around us miserable, too,”  Keb Burns explains of the motivation behind the book. “We don’t have to live that way. Everyone is looking for lasting peace, and we all struggle to find it. In the stress and fear of the moment, it’s easy to forget that peace is close at hand.”

“When we look to God as our source, He gives us treasures of grace that overflow into every area of our lives,” adds her writing partner, Kira Marie McCullough.

Authors McCullough and Burns put a new spin on the subject, contending that peace is a gift from God that begins in the heart.

“If ever there was a time in history

when mankind needed peace,

it is now.”

Through a lifetime of learning, McCullough and Burns have discovered that peace can be found in the most unusual situations, from:

  • Hurricane catastrophes to tornado disasters
  • Chronic illnesses to loss of loved ones
  • Weird car troubles to bizarre kitchen fires

From tribulations to celebrations, grief to joy, the authors share their true-life stories in this power-packed devotional. Yet, like a rosy dawn after the storm, there are light-hearted tales of childhood adventures, youthful dreams, and memorable moments that will make you smile.

No matter how troubled the world becomes, God’s peace can soothe like a refreshing waterfall, healing and restoring our souls and those of others.

Most of my life I’ve Struggled with fear and anxiety,” McCullough confesses. “Even as a Christian, I’ve struggled. I think that’s why Jesus says hundreds of times in the scripture, ‘Fear not.’ But it’s not easy, especially when we face tragedies and pain in our lives. I wrote this book to remind myself of all the times when God has turned my hopeless situations into blessings, and given me the peace that passes all understanding.”

“The peace I’m talking about in this book isn’t a psychological technique; that’s a natural peace, which helps for a while, but it isn’t deep or lasting,” Burns says. “The kind of peace I’m talking about is supernatural. It comes straight from God. And He so wants to give it to us! But it’s like the parable of the talents; we have to accept the grace and use it well, then He will give us more.”

From the Book

We live in terribly troubled times, perhaps worse than the days of Noah and the Flood. We are beset by trials, faced with the shrinking value of our income and the increasing cost of living; shaken by wars and rumors of wars; anxious about plagues, and fearful of famines. If ever there was a time in history when mankind needed peace, it is now.

Peace is one of the treasures of grace bestowed on us when we first dedicate ourselves to God. Many people speak of the feeling of deep peace that fills them when they turn their lives over to Christ. But somewhere along the way, troubles and hardships erode the soil and sap the strength of the nascent flower called peace. Rattled by the terrors we see in the world and shaken by the sorrows in our own lives, we let go—bit by bit—of our union with God and thus our serenity. Like the Prodigal Son, we squander the riches of grace given to us by the Father until we have nothing left.

Fortunately, the Father is waiting for us to return so that He may once again bestow upon us the riches of his household—the grace we desperately need and the crown jewel of peace. In your hand, you hold a map for the road home
