Worship Arts Pastor Offers Five Biblical Responses to the Question: Why Worship?

Worship pastor, composer, contemporary psalmist, and author Wayne Berry is pleased to announce the release of his latest book, Why Worship (Five Biblical Responses), which released on July 18, 2025 in hardback, trade paperback, and all major ebook formats from WordCrafts Press. Berry’s new title immediately struck a chord with fans, debuting at Number 27 on Amazon.com’s Hot New Releases chart in the Protestant Theology category.

“In the last five years or thereabouts, I’ve noticed something regarding the subject of worship,” Berry explains of his reason for writing the new book. “Much of our theology, rhetoric, preaching, teaching, commentary, printed material, and podcasts address the who, what, how, where, and when of it, but far less attention is given to the whys. That observation is what birthed this book. I’m not considering worship from a wide-ranging, broad-based religious perspective. My target is much narrower. What I’m aiming at is twofold:

1. Why did God create the concept of worship in the first place?

2. Why do Christians worship?

Biblically speaking, there is a plethora of reasons that could be used to answer these two questions. I’ve chosen to offer only five. Why so? Because that’s what the Holy Ghost directed me to do.”

Why Worship (Five Biblical Responses) contains treasures, both old and new can best be described as an assortment of Scriptural renderings, insightful (and impactful) quotes, instructive directives, and prophetic insights—past, present, and future.

“Think of the pages as shelves in a general store,” Berry suggests. “Perhaps you’ll find things herewith that you’ve been seeking, or that you didn’t even know you were looking for. Or, as The Message Bible says it in Matthew 13:52:

He said, “Then you see how every student well-trained in God’s kingdom is like the owner of a general store who can put his hands on anything you need, old or new, exactly when you need it.”
