In the Hands of the Gods, Volume 1 in the Ijin Trilogy, Explores the WW2 Pacific Theater From a Different Point of View
WordCrafts Press and Frank F. Fiore, a 5-star rated author of novels in multiple genres, are pleased to announce the release of In the Hands of the Gods, the first volume in the Ijin Trilogy of World War 2 novels. Exploring the Pacific Theater, In the Hands of the Gods looks at the events leading up to America’s entry into World War 2 through a different lens.
“Many of my books explore the concept of alienation and a young boy having to come of age; a boy that is alienated from his family, environment, society, and even himself,” explains author Frank F. Fiore. “The Ijin Trilogy is a perfect vehicle for this exploration.”
Coming of age against the backdrop of World War II Japan, an American boy, Connor Williams, tormented by his personal alienation and the horrors of war, places himself in harm’s way and into the turmoil of a plot to overthrow the Emperor.
Whether out of fear, revenge, honor, or a quest for personal salvation, this American teenager, of his own free will, sat himself in the pilot’s seat of a Mitsubishi Zero, to join other young Kamikaze pilots hell-bent on attacking the powerful American fleet off the coast of Japan.
In the Hands of the Gods traces the Japanese historical period between 1936 through the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, telling the story of World War II from the Japanese perspective. Using historical and fictional characters, the Ijin Trilogy details the political, military, cultural, and social events affecting the lives of Connor’s adopted Japanese family and the political and military individuals they encounter.
“I find that placing Connor in a land foreign to him, shows the stark challenges in which he must evolve,” Fiore muses. “I am a history wonk, especially World War II, and I thought using the history of the Japanese war in the Pacific would make a good backdrop to tell the story of an alienated American youth searching for a code to live by, hoping it will help him find himself.”
Fans can look forward to Connor’s continuing adventures in A Pyrrhic Victory, Ijin Volume 2, in the second quarter of 2024.
