From animation, to storytelling, acting, and music, DAVID, Angel Studio’s musical is stunning!
Already on track to be one of the largest family titles of the holiday season, Angel Studio’s highly anticipated DAVID—directed by Phil Cunningham and Brent Dawes, and starring GRAMMY nominated artist Phil Wickham along with Brandon Engman and Brian Stivale—releases to theaters Friday, December 19th.
About DAVID
From the songs of his mother’s heart to the whispers of a faithful God, David’s story begins in quiet devotion. When the giant Goliath rises to terrorize a nation, a young shepherd armed with only a sling, a few stones, and unshakable faith steps forward. Pursued by power and driven by purpose, his journey tests the limits of loyalty, love, and courage—culminating in a battle not just for a crown, but for the soul of a kingdom. DAVID is a larger-than-life animated feature film that brings the timeless story of one of history’s most fascinating figures to life — the warrior, poet, shepherd, and eventual king, whose courage changed the course of nations.

From the animation to the storytelling, acting, and music, DAVID is stunning. The script is respectful of Scripture, adding details that bring the Bible story to life. The animation easily competes with the best of Disney. The soundtrack—with songs written by Phil Wickham—is amazing. The voice acting is stellar, with a seamless flow from young David, voiced by Brandon Engman, young adult David, voiced to Phil Wickham, who recently won Christmas Album of the Year at the 2025 GMA Dove Awards. The soundtrack score was composed by Joseph Trapanese who also produced it with Chad Carouthers. The lyrics and Songwriters included Jonas Myrin, Ri-An (Christian), Marty Goetz, Misha Goetz, Brock Monroe, Molly Kate Kestner, Phil Wickham, and Chad Carouthers. Singers included Phil Wickham, Miri Mesika, Lauren Daigle, Brandon Engman, and Brian Stivale, among others.
With a run time of 1 hour, 55 minutes, Angel Studios’ Parents Guide rates DAVID as Ages 5+ recommended age due to depictions of cartoon violence and some scenes with bone-clad warriors.
From start to finish, Angel Studios’ DAVID is a must-see. Make plans now to see it with your family and friends.
