Author Lyneta Smith is pleased to announce the upcoming release of her poignant, debut memoir, Curtain Call, which is slated to release to retail on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, from WordCrafts Press.
I thought I was having a breakdown; turns out, it was a breakthrough.
“I remember standing beside the Columbia River in Portland, Oregon, in 2014,” Smith muses. “It was what I call my semicolon year. It’s the year a crisis led me to a breakthrough. This book is about how God redeemed my story. I hope my future books will be about how He redeemed others’ stories.”

An established writer with multiple credits in national periodicals and anthologies including several Chicken Soup for the Soul books and Heart Renovation: A Construction Guide to Godly Character along with contributions to major magazines such as Credo, Nature’s Friend, Clubhouse Jr., Vista, and Living Light News , Smith confesses that she started her career as a writer for writing’s sake. “I wanted esteem, prestige, and a living wage from putting words on a page,” she says. “Not that those things are bad—I still wouldn’t turn any of those things down. But now I understand that writing, for me, is a calling, and using the talent God has entrusted to me is a form of worship.”
The turning point for Smith was 2014—her semicolon year. “I wanted out of my story,” she explains. “I didn’t want to be on this earth anymore. Bombarded by uninvited memories of childhood trauma, I questioned why God would allow so many horrible things to happen to me. That was when God interrupted my pleas for help with a simple question: “Will you trust Me with your story?” I agreed to step out of my stage-perfect Christian life and into the journey toward healing and finally seeing Him as a good, loving God.”
In sharing her story, Smith hopes to encourage others to understand that God loves them and that He is good. “Some of us have endured so much pain or hardship that we doubt or forget God’s love and goodness,” she says. “But God reminded me, and keeps reminding me every time I share my story with someone else.”
