Author Abby Rosser Joins With Illustrator Sara Bryson toCreate a Charming New Christmas Children’s Picture Book
2025)—Popular middle grade and dual timeline novelist Abby Rosser and illustrator Sara Bryson are celebrating the release of their Amazon.com bestselling children’s picture book, A Shepherd’s Lullaby, which released to retail on November 20, 2024, from WordCrafts Press. The charming retelling of the Christmas story debuted at the Number 2 spot on multiple Amazon.com Hot New Releases charts, including Children’s Christian Holiday Fiction, Children’s Jesus Books, and Children’s Farm Animal Books.
“When the idea came to me for A Shepherd’s Lullaby, I just kept thinking about those shepherds on the hillside and how their experience with the angels and the baby in the manger must have left such an impression on them,” said author Abby Rosser of her inspiration for writing the tale. “And it wasn’t just the glowing angels in the night sky. It was the realization of a promise that had been passed down through generations—something worth waiting for!”
“When my dear friend Abby approached me about illustrating her story of a shepherd boy’s journey; it was a dream come true,” added illustrator Sara Bryson. “I embarked on an adventure to create original linoleum prints for each page in an effort to bring life and texture to Asa’s adventure.”
About the Story
Asa is the youngest boy in a family of shepherds, and he is usually assigned tasks no one else wants to do, like finding little lambs that might have wandered away from the flock. He is often the first to work and the last to eat, and he often feels a bit lonely. But then comes a whisper on the wind and a strange visitor in the night with news too wonderful to be believed. Asa joins the other shepherds to trek to Bethlehem to see this great thing the stranger announced.
“The Christmas story has been told and retold countless times and in a variety of creative ways,” said Mike Parker, publisher at WordCrafts Press. “But the beauty and simplicity of the story continues to inspire fresh interpretations that speak to each new generation. We believe Abby and Sara’s version has the unique ability to cross generational lines and appeal to both young and old. We believe it will become a favorite with families that will be shared for many Christmases to come, and throughout the year as well!”
