About the Film:

Allyson (Drew) and her friends Izzy (White) and Sondra (Heaton) – who is also their pastor’s wife – love being wives and moms, but they really need a little down time. Just a chance to dress up and have peaceful evening of grown-up conversation over a lovely dinner. What’s wrong with that? With their husbands taking over watching the kids, the three ladies head out on their much-needed moms’ night out. What could go wrong? Plenty! A mis-ordered Groupon meal throws off the ladies’ plans. The dads aren’t doing much better either. What ensues is a delightful comedy-of-errors, taking the gals and guys to a bowling alley, a tattoo parlor, a hospital and the police station.

Mom’s Night Out is delightful. The writing was witty, nailing the highs and lows, the challenges and joys of parenting. They deftly wove in faith-based values, making the script believable without sounding preachy. The acting was stellar; Sarah Drew as Allyson was the persona of a stressed-out perfectionist mom who sets impossibly high standards for herself. Sean Astin, as her husband Sean, was a supportive, loving husband who tries his best to help his wife. Patricia Heaton demonstrated why she was an Emmy Award® winner; her portrayal of an always-in-control pastor’s wife, stressed-out mother of a teenage daughter and a woman with a hidden past was hilarious. The scene in the police station had me laughing so hard I lost my breath. Alex Hendrick stepped into the role of pastor, husband and father with a funny and witty grace. Country singer Trace Adkins was smooth and hilarious as Bones, the pony-tailed tattooed biker with a wealth of downhome wisdom.
