Grace Unplugged on VoD

The inspirational and entertaining drama Grace Unplugged has earned recognition as one of the Top 10 Christian films of the year for both its popularity with fans and its quality according to critics.

Grace Unplugged posterThe movie, which debuts on Digital HD and Video on Demand today (Tuesday, January 28), from Lionsgate Home Entertainment, made the Christian Film Database’s Top Ten Christian Films of the Year list and is one of Movieguide’s Top Ten best movies of the year. The Christian Film Database, the most extensive database of Christian movies, honored the film for its popularity with fans who visited its website; while Movieguide, for more than 25 years a leader in identifying family-friendly films for people of faith, has named the movie one of its 10 best of the year – and it could win top honors at the publication’s awards gala February 7.

Grace Unplugged was the #1 fan-rated rated movie for two weeks straight on Fandango during its theatrical run. Critics raved about it, as well, with Focus on the Family calling it a “moving and meaningful film parents and teens should see together” and Ave Maria Radio calling it “an authentic and moving story of relationship and redemption.”

Grace Unplugged, which will be released on Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD February 11, tells the story of a teenager whose faith and family ties are put to the test when her dreams of becoming a music star start to come true.  The film stars AJ Michalka (TV’s “Aly and AJ”), James Denton (TV’s “Desperate Housewives”), Kevin Pollak (A Few Good Men), Michael Welch (The Twilight franchise) and Shawnee Smith (TV’s “Anger Management”) and features special appearances by Christian music artists Chris Tomlin and Jamie Grace. With a star-studded cast, inspiring soundtrack and amazing musical performances, Grace Unplugged is a heartwarming film that “all ages will relate to for its depiction of being misunderstood and the power of forgiveness!” (Holly McClure, Parables TV).

Grace (Michalka) is a Christian teen who is struggling to find her own way in life. Against the wishes of her overly protective father (Denton), she runs away from home to chase her musical dreams. While her father puts his faith in God to watch over his daughter, only Grace can decide if she will take the road leading to fame and fortune … or find her way back to her faith and family?

“The stories of Dad and Grace go hand-in-hand,” says writer/director Brad. J. Silverman. “The journey Grace goes on is one that’s a big issue in churches today – kids growing up and struggling with making their faith their own. The theme for Dad is, sometimes the best we can do for our kids is to let go and let God take care of them.”

The Grace Unplugged Blu-ray combo pack and DVD bonus features include two behind-the-scenes featurettes, a gag reel and deleted scenes.  The Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD will be available for the suggested retail price of $24.99 and $19.98, respectively.
