catching faith coverRLJ Entertainment, Inc., under the Image Entertainment brand, releases faith-based film CATCHING FAITH, to DVD on August 4, starring Lorena Segura York, Dariush Moslemi, Garrett Westton, Bethany Peterson and Bill Engvall. Inspired by the real life experiences of his co-writer, Christian Counsellor, Andrea M. Polnaszek, John K.D. Graham directs a powerful film about one family’s journey toward a true relationship with God and each other, despite the pressures of the community to keep on with the façade.

John (Moslemi) and Alexa (York) Taylor appear to have the perfect life – they’re the envy of all the parents in town. Their son Beau (Westton) is the high school football star and their daughter Ravyn (Peterson) is a straight-A student. But when Beau is caught drinking alcohol, his place on the team and his bright future are on the line. With the football season at stake and the judgmental community turning their backs on them, every member of the Taylor family is at a crossroads. Now, they must find the strength from one another, and the spiritual courage from within, to prove that faith and family is the only score that really matters.

CATCHING FAITH earns high points on many levels. The production values are solid. Written for a faith-based audience, the script is slow at times, but overall is realistic without been corny or too preachy. The characters were believable, facing situations that many believers deal with on a regular basis. The acting was solid among the lead actors; Moslemi’s and York’s portrayal of John and Alexa were honest and convincing. Engvall, as the highschool football coach was spot-on, delivering moving advice on and off the football field.

CATHING FAITH is a good choice for a family, youth group, or any faith based audience.
