Protect Your Makeup Brushes with THE BRUSH GUARD CLEANING KIT

From the makers of The Brush Guard

This is the time of year when many people make resolutions for the coming year. Often these resolutions pertain to living a healthier lifestyle or making better financial decisions. If you wear makeup, you can combine part of both resolutions into one.

Whatever type of makeup you use, you probably use one or more brushes to apply your makeup. Because I have eczema, I use a high quality mineral makeup. To apply this makeup, I own more than two dozen makeup brushes. The makeup and brushes represent a financial investment. To protect my investment, I am meticulous about taking care of my makeup and brushes. One way I protect my brushes is to store them in The Brush Guards. These flexible mesh sheathes slide over the brush handles to completely cover the bristles. This protects the bristles from being squashed out of shape, when they are stored in-between uses.

Storing brushes properly is only one step in caring for your brushes; cleaning them is equally important. Brushes pick up the old makeup, germs, dirt, sebum and dead skin cells from your face. Leaving the brushes unwashed allows bacteria to grow on your brush. Using a dirty brush will transfer bacteria back to your skin. To help with this problem, Diane Baker and Malcolm Plant, the people who created The Brush Guard, have now introduced a new product; The Brush Guard Cleaning Kit.

The Brush Guard Cleaning Kit comes with the Squeaky Clean Brush Shampoo, the Washing Cup, a blotting cloth, the Drying Vase, and a variety pack of Brush Guards.

I recently tested The Brush Guard Cleaning Kit on my makeup brushes with a six step system.

Step One: I squeezed several drops of the Squeaky Clean Brush Shampoo into the bottom of the Washing Cup. After wetting the brush’s bristles, I rubbed the bristles against the textured sudsing surface of the Washing Cup.

Step Two: I rinsed the brush in hot water, until the water ran clear.

Step Three: I removed excess water by using the blotting cloth.

Step Four: I slipped one of The Brush Guards over the bristles, allowing about ¼ inch past the end of the bristles.

Step Five: I placed the brush, bristle-side-down, in the Drying Vase. The open sides of this vase allow more air flow to reach the brushes, allowing them to dry faster.

The only problem I encountered with The Brush Guard Cleaning Kit was trying to wash my kabuki brush. This brush has a short handle, making it a tight squeeze to get my hand down to reach the textured sudsing surface in the bottom of The Washing Cup.

The Brush Guard Cleaning Kit is reasonably priced, making it easy to keep your makeup brushes clean, your skin healthier and your bank account plumper. What a simple way to keep your New Year resolutions.
