My T-Tapp Journey: “Barefoot Basic Plus” Takes T-Tapp to a New Level

Last summer my friend Shelly Ballestero, an esthetician who wrote, “Beauty by God,” introduced me to T-Tapp. Shelly is committed to helping people live a healthy lifestyle and has no problems telling women which name-brand skin care or cosmetic is actually bad for them. When she told me about a fitness workout that would result in significant loss in inches as well as increasing overall well being, I knew I could trust her.

Boy, am I glad I did!

T-Tapp, a fitness routine developed by Teresa Tapp, author of “Fit and Fabulous in 15 Minutes” is nothing short of amazing. Let me rephrase that; it is amazing. If you are interested in my personal experience, check out my blog, Tapping into Health; My T-Tapp Journey.

I must be honest and confess that I had a slight relapse over the winter, due to a lengthy respiratory funk that left me exhausted and a weakness for holiday chocolate. However, when my third daughter announced her engagement and set a date for a summer wedding, I jumped right back on the T-Tapp wagon. Was it a coincidence that about that time I heard about one of the newest T-Tapp exercise DVDs: Barefoot Basic Plus? I think not.

Filmed during T-Tapp’s 2009 Retreat at the Safety Harbor Resort & Spa, in Barefoot Basic Plus Teresa adds a few new tweaks to the Basic Plus Workout; the main one being that it is done in bare – or socked – feet.

Teresa explains the reason for tweaking the Basic Plus Workout. “After hearing all the positive feedback about Finger and Foot Fitness and how foot fitness in particular helped with Plantar Faciatis I realized that even though I was TELLING people how to move/utilize their feet in their shoes, they weren’t actually doing it because they couldn’t SEE it.

“This is where the idea of Barefoot Basic Plus came from. You can do it with and without shoes as long as you use the muscle activation principles that I teach in this workout.  All these extra tweaks will increase muscle to nerve transmission (neuro-kinetic flow) which means that you burn more sugar and fat as well as eliminating chemical calories and decreasing inflammation.  More muscle activation in the feet mean more tightening and toning and faster inch loss in the thighs.  Using your feet properly increases muscle activation in your calf and the calf muscle acts like the “heart” muscle of the lymphatic system and pumps everything through the lower body.  With Barefoot Basic and all the extra muscle activation in your feet, we finally found the secret to slim ‘cankles’!”

Teresa was not kidding! Barefoot Basic Plus takes T-Tapp to a new level. After  going through the workout once, I could feel a tightening in my calf muscles, all from just holding your feet properly while doing the T-Tapp exercises.

Barefoot Basic Plus DVD includes three workouts in one! The Barefoot Basic Plus Workout + Instruction, which runs 45 minutes, has Teresa taking participants through each phase of the workout.  The second part is the Barefoot Basic Plus Workout Only, which runs 15 minutes. As a bonus for those hearty souls, Teresa includes the Hoe Down Showdown, where she leads a group of people in a challenge performing 55 repetitions of her signature T-Tapp exercise.

During the Barefoot Basic Plus workout, Teresa refers to a workout called Senior Fit.  She explains, “Senior Fit Workout is one of my new series of workouts. They are called the T-Tapp Method of Movement: Muscle Activation Series.

As we age, we lose bone density, muscle and see an increase in inflammation that has been building up in our bodies for years. Senior Fit has more focus on muscle activation to slow bone loss, increase bone density and decrease inflammation. I’ve also tweaked Senior Fit to make the most of muscle activation even as we are older, so that our body can’t take the path of least resistance.  We force the body to do the movements that will best promote overall fitness and wellness from the inside out.

“We are expecting to release Senior Fit in the late spring/early summer and although targeted for seniors, it works great for all ages and fitness levels. Senior Fit will increase your results without increasing reps, sets or adding equipment.”

With my daughter’s summer wedding right around the corner, I want to lose two dress sizes by May. With T-Tapp Barefoot Basic Plus, I know I can reach that goal!
